Artist’s bio

Lori King was raised in Long Island, NY, which gave her exposure to the endless hustle of NYC and to the many “downtown” NY galleries and art communities, all of which no doubt influenced her later work in glass. Some have said that under the right circumstances, you can feel the downtown Manhattan activity while looking at one of Lori’s busy, multi-color compositions.

Lori left home at 20, and spent her early adulthood in Texas and then North Carolina, introducing her to subdued but still wide spectrum of colors of the less urban surroundings. It was during this period that Lori found employment in business admin and eventually accounting, which took her from entry level to VP of a publicly traded company. It was during this period that Lori started to be interested in translating her life and how she perceived the world outside her life, into glass. In her travels, she visited the Corning Museum of Glass in NY, and that first visit formed a bond, which has lasted for years; and to today.

Artist’s statement

“My art results from my radically varied living environments, from the explosions of color in neon from the ‘big city’ to the subdued pastels of Montauk Point, Texas, and the Carolinas. Much of my art attempts to communicate my vision of how combinations of colors build the whole; while the balance of my work shows my view of “scapes” and wildlife.”
