Artist Application
This $40 non-refundable jury fee is required at the time of application. If accepted, the jury fee will be applied to the cost of your first year of membership. After paying this application fee, you will immediately receive an email with a link to our Jury Application.
Your work will be reviewed by our artistic jury panel that is affiliated with the Vision Artists Gallery. The use of juries is a common practice in the visual arts. By utilizing this system, the work is viewed objectively by a number of artists and not subjected to the personal tastes of any one artist. We use the jury system to ensure that the work displayed in our gallery is of the highest possible quality in terms of concept, style, technical skill, and presentation. The panel will evaluate up to twelve pieces of work. If required, the artist will need to present 5-10 actual works for review.
Application Requirements
5 pieces of work (presented either digitally or physical). If the artist creates work in a different medium, they will need to present a minimum of 4 of each type.
Besides a digital submission, artists will need to present a minimum of five actual works as part of the jury process.
Artwork should include title, medium, and list price on the piece
Digital images should include a description of the piece, title, medium, size, and list price.
Work must be in its original form (no prints unless it is photography). (Print reproductions will be allowed in the gallery once the artist is juried in.)
Work should be “gallery ready,” meaning they are finished/framed as you intend to present them in an exhibition at Vision Arts Gallery.
All work should be of original design, material, and execution. For example, in beaded jewelry - it is desired that the beads be handmade unless a detailed beaded application is being used (i.e., seed beads).
You will receive an email immediately after payment with a link to Jury Application page.
If the Gallery Director would like an in-person meeting to view the artist’s actual pieces, they will contact you directly with a calendar link to set that up.
Accepted Artists Information
Accepted artists will receive notice along with a New Member package and a contract that must be signed and returned to Vision Arts Gallery before any work may be exhibited. The Gallery Director will arrange a date and time for a new member orientation to provide you with valuable information about Vision Arts Gallery and gallery policies and procedures.
Accepted exhibiting artists are expected to volunteer their time to come to the gallery at least 1 day a month (a minimum of 12 hrs/year) to talk with customers and be involved in gallery-sitting duties. (a gallery-sitting schedule is forthcoming). In addition, all artists are asked to help with the Special Events (i.e., 1st Friday Art Walk, holiday events, featured artist activities). The gallery has the option of calling artists to help when the owner or others need assistance.
Vision Arts Gallery holds a monthly meeting of all exhibiting and studio artists to help build a solid creative community.
Monthly Exhibiting Artist Fee: $100/month
Commission: 80% to the artist / 20% to Vision Arts Gallery.
Artists who are not accepted at this time will receive juror feedback and overall scores. This feedback is provided as a means toward constructive development of the work and possible areas of future study. The staff is not authorized or informed to discuss scores or results with applicants.
