Artist’s Bio

Annie Melik is a Cuban American professional visual artist and teaching artist member of Oil Painters of America (OPA), American Women Artists (AWA), and National Art Education Association (NAEA) She has 18 years of professional work experience in Art Business. She has worked with many commercial clients and art collectors, producing custom art pieces with exciting results for her clients and collectors. Her artwork has been displayed in countless art exhibitions and most of her paintings are in National and International private collections.

Her paintings are centered around the impression and significance of how light reflected can affect shadow, and analyzing this as a visual reference of divine light and enlightenment. The evocative imagery of the artist intentionally falls within a dramatic and poetic magical realism creating stories in a post-luminist and multi referential landscape. Her work is often highlighted by the contrast of her vibrant color palette carried by her art explorations and mastery of different mediums and techniques. Through her art, Annie strives to capture timeless moments that she paints in her studio or en plein air.

In addition to her natural talent for painting, she spent 8 years of training in drawing and painting in private and National Fine Arts Schools in Cuba and studied under great Maestros of the Cuban Academy at the Professional Academy of Fine Arts El Alba (Holguin, 2005). She graduated from the University of Arts in Cuba ISA (B.S.A. Havana 2013). She is currently completing her Master’s degree in Art Education at Boston University. As part of her master’s degree program, she studied abroad in Venice, Italy - drawing and painting and is currently researching topics like Venetian Art and Italian Renaissance Painting. She has also painted multiple murals and continue painting commissioned monumental paintings. She has a permanent residence in Myrtle Beach, SC and you can find her paintings at our local Galleries in Myrtle Beach, SC.
