Isabelle (Izzy Rider) Mackenzie
Artist’s bio
For as long as I can remember, creativity has flowed through my veins. I was always doodling and crafting - constantly exploring all artistic impulses through any medium I could get my hands on; painting, sculpting, drawing, embroidering and writing.
Now that I have retired from a stressful career in Information Technology, I am finally able to fully commit to my art. This is more than just a second act; it is a hard-earned renaissance where I can truly embrace my creative self.
My current work primarily features acrylic paints embellished with fibers, paper, wood, metal, and modeling compound. I find daily inspiration in my studio through collaboration with fellow artists, continuing education, and the encouragement of my family and friends.
I look forward to continuing to develop unique series that incorporate original ideas and the many lessons I have learned working with various materials over the years.
Artist’s statement
My creative inspiration is drawn from daily life, meditation, and reading. Infl uenced by artistic friends, old magazines, and various classes, I enjoy melding different styles to create original art, often focusing on animals, plants, and Mother Earth’s scenery.
I am currently working on a series titled "Cats in Space." This project combines my interest in the colors of outer space with my favorite animal. My intention is to offer a whimsical perspective on lunar exploration and the International Space Station by incorporating the unique personalities of cats into these celestial settings.
