Mirror Picassiette: Reviving Old China Through Mosaic Art
with Brigitte Nicol-Messali
Broken pieces can become something breathtaking.
In this soulful and hands-on mosaic workshop, teaching artist Brigitte Nicol-Messali introduces the timeless art of Picassiette—the technique of transforming broken china into stunning, meaningful works of art. Using fragments of your own cherished plates or teacups, you’ll create a beautiful 20” mosaic mirror that reflects both creativity and memory.
This class invites you to slow down and work intuitively. You’ll learn how to prepare the mirror base, envision a design, safely cut and arrange pieces of broken china, and complete your artwork through gluing, grouting, and finishing. Each shard tells a story, and together they form a one-of-a-kind piece that blends beauty, history, and personal expression.
No prior mosaic experience is needed. Whether your china holds sentimental value or you simply love the idea of giving old pieces new life, this workshop offers a powerful creative experience—one that honors imperfection and celebrates renewal.
